So is Stone Temple Pilots lead singer & founder Scott Weiland “fired” from the band or not? At this point, who knows what to believe, because both sides keep reporting conflicting stories, AND “lawyers” are getting involved. But let’s flash back a bit – around ten days ago, a story came out on various websites, including TMZ, saying that Weiland had been “dismissed” from the very band he founded because of feuding between himself and the rest of the group. He even released this statement: “I learned of my supposed ‘termination’ from Stone Temple Pilots this morning by reading about it in the press. Not Read More …
Boy Band Central
If you like boy bands, this edition of “Back In The Day Buzz” is for you! Lots of AWESOME news (and new albums, too!). We start off by talking about one of my favorites, 98 Degrees. I have lined up Jeff Timmons of 98 Degrees to be on the show the weekend of March 16th. We spoke a bit in advance of the interview and he informed me of a few exciting things: 1. A new 98 Degrees album in mid-summer. 2. A new single in early May. 3. More dates being added on “The Package Tour” with New Kids On The Block & Boyz Read More …
Smash Mouth Interview
Smash Mouth had three Top 10 hits in the ’90’s, including “Walkin’ On The Sun,” “All Star” and “Then The Morning Comes.” Dave O calls Paul De Lisle of Smash Mouth “one of the funniest dudes I’ve ever talked to.” Listen to the SKYPE interview and hear the two discuss the early days of Smash Mouth, how the band found out they were signed to a record deal, how they became best friends with Carson Daly and much, much more.
Vanilla Ice, TEB & More
Perhaps you already knew this, but it came as a shocker to me the other night when I was laying on my couch, flipping through the TV and came across “The Vanilla Ice Project” (not too be confused with The Tony Rich Project). No, The Vanilla Ice Project is not a new music group featuring the “Ice, Ice Baby” performer. Rather, it’s a home improvement show that is brought to you by DIY and HGTV. You see, it seems that our old pal has “more than 15 years of home improvement experience due to his 7,000-square-foot Palm Beach Mansion.” He goes around helping others improve Read More …
Kriss Kross, Gin Blossoms & More
Last week, we talked about the exciting news that Destiny’s Child and Justin Timberlake had brand new albums coming out. And while we can’t say the same thing about Kris Kross, we CAN tell you that they are reuniting for at least one concert – the So So Def 20th Anniversary show next month in Atlanta! That’s right, Chris “Mac Daddy” Kelly and Chris “Daddy Mac” Smith are a duo again, if only for a day. It’s funny that this is occurring, actually, since we got a Tweet asking about Kris Kross just a few weeks back. One other thing to report on the Kris Read More …
D. Child, JT & More
Since we last spoke a week ago, some INSANELY EXCITING NEWS for diehard fans of the 1990’s has been revealed, as two of the decades biggest superstars have announced they’re coming back with new music! Let’s start with Beyonce and Destiny’s Child, who have let it be known that they are getting back together for the first time since 2005! This came as a bit of a surprise, since I was told by Beyonce one time that the group getting back together was a “slim and none chance.” Apparently a new album will be released in about ten days, on January 29th, and will be Read More …
Brian Littrell of Backstreet Boys Interview
If there was an award to be won in the ’90′s, the Backstreet Boys earned it, from Billboard Music Awards to MTV Video Music Awards to World Music Awards to American Music Awards. BSB, which is often called the “best boy band of all time,” originally consisted of Brian, Nick, Howie D, A.J. and Kevin. The Orlando boys saw seven singles hit the Top 10 in the United States during the ’90′s alone, and that was all from just 1997-1999! Dave O recently spoke with Brian of BSB to talk about this year’s 20th anniversary of the group! In addition, hear Brian’s thoughts on who Read More …
Happy Holidays & New Year
Since we’ve now officially made it through December 21st, we can enjoy the Holidays and no longer worry about the world ending. I am shocked that the Mayans (and forecasters) were wrong on this one, totally shocked. 🙂 To be serious, I want to wish you and your family Happy Holidays and a Happy New Year. I had a long article ready to publish about a few 90’s stars, but will save that for the next time I write in early 2013. That’s because I keep constantly thinking about the tragedies in Newtown, Connecticut and how I hope we all learn from them. Not only Read More …
Nick, Jessica & More
I have my 32nd Birthday next week, and the older I get, the more difficult it becomes to hide my true feelings… So that’s why I’ll just come out and admit it. I have a man crush on Nick Lachey. There, I said it. Years and years of admiration for the pimp are finally revealed. And wow, it feels so liberating to go on record with that fact. Hahaha. To be serious, Nick is one of my favorite people in pop culture by far – not only because I loved 98 Degrees back in the day, and not only because I had an ex who Read More …
Jovi, Adams & More
By now you have no doubt heard about Jon Bon Jovi’s 19-year old daughter Stephanie, who suffered an overdose on heroin two weeks ago while at college in upstate New York (Hamilton College). Stephanie was rushed to a hospital that day (November 14th), eventually released and has been cleared of wrong doing from the law. There are nice photos all over the Internet of Stephanie and her Dad from over Thanksgiving break in the Hampton’s. Bon Jovi has called the November 14th event “a tragedy” and he is no doubt very thankful that he didn’t lose her to such a terrible drug. Here’s to hoping Read More …
