One Final Time

I write to you one final time as our “flight back to the 90’s” on Round Trip has now forever landed. It was March 27th, 2011 (almost eleven years ago) when the show debuted on WZPL in Indianapolis playing “nothin’ but 90’s hits” each weekend and interviewing the biggest 90’s stars. Ever since, Round Trip spread its wings and grew exponentially, being heard nationwide on great radio stations by countless wonderful listeners. It has been my biggest and most favorite career accomplishment being your host as I shared my passion and love for 90’s music. While the show ends, the website will continue, as there Read More …

Blind Melon Update

We got an interesting tweet (@roundtrip90s) from Danny in Rapid City, South Dakota. He asks, “Can u explain what Blind Melon is up to. Together or not?” Danny, I’m glad you brought up Blind Melon, because they’re one of the more underrated bands who came out in the 1990’s. And you’re right, its hard to know exactly what they’re up to in 2013 (for a number of reasons). As you probably know, the band was formed in Los Angeles and eventually made it big with the song “No Rain.” However, lead singer Shannon Hoon tragically died in 1995, at the young age of 28, from Read More …

Huge Summer Tour & More!

Sorry for the delay in getting a new “Back In The Day Buzz” published… I’ve been beyond busy hunting down more 90’s artists to catch up with and bring to you! Lots to update you on in this edition. First, I’m beyond EXCITEDDDD for the concert tour just announced… New Kids On The Block, Boyz II Men and Paula Abdul!  Most likely, it’ll be coming to a city near you this summer and it should be absolutely classic. Next, I was at the gym tonight doing some curls when I heard a guy walk by with a song on his headphones… and it sampled BROWNSTONE Read More …

R.I.P. Prince Be of P.M. Dawn

As I’ve reflected over the last several days, I’m more and more sad about the sudden passing of Prince Be of P.M. Dawn. In case you didn’t hear, “Be” died from kidney complications last weekend at the young age of 46. You can listen to an interview with his cousin and P.M. Dawn bandmate “Doc Giggles” right here on the website under 90S CONNECTIONS – and he discusses how Prince Be had been the victim of numerous strokes and diabetes over the last decade. The interview is a couple years old but talks in-depth about what kind of man “Be” was and of course, the Read More …

Scare With Sinead

Some VERY interesting news this week… We begin with Monday and a BIG SCARE, when Sinead O’Connor was reported “missing” and those close to her feared for the worst (as in suicide)…   Sinead went out for a bike ride last Sunday morning at 6 and wasn’t found in rural Chicago until Monday afternoon at 1:45 PM… At the time I’m writing this, I haven’t heard all the specifics, but this is certainly VERY worrisome and I hope Sinead gets the help she needs… It’s obviously rare to have a situation like this not end completely tragically, so that is the good news… Sinead has Read More …

Rest in Peace, Prince

My oh my, my oh my, what a sad day, as we lost Prince Rogers Nelson WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYY too soon, at the age of 57…   This one is really difficult for me to write, just as it was when 90’s icons Michael Jackson and Whitney Houston passed on…   I never got the opportunity to see Prince perform in person, nor did I get the chance to interview him… Those are big regrets for me but most of all, so is the fact that he is no longer on this earth…   Luckily, his music lives on – and it’s quite amazing to go back Read More …

The Rumor Mill is Churning

I apologize for doing a mostly “speculative” edition of “Back In the Day Buzz,” but these stories were way too good to pass up on! Plus, nobody will ever confuse me for a responsible journalist, either! J   This first rumor has been around for almost a year, but I’m told it’s starting to gain some wings, and that’s the possibility of a Backstreet Boys/Spice Girls tour!!! Uh, YES PLEASE!!!   While we’re on the topic of Backstreet Boys, I have to tell you that I’ve spoken fairly extensively with all of the members except for Nick Carter. I’m sure he’s great too, but can Read More …

LL Cool J, Toni Braxton & More

Please tell me you watched Toni Braxton’s movie “Unbreak My Heart” on Lifetime last Sunday… PLEASE!!!   If not, YOU MISSED OUT!! It was amazing… and many seemed to agree – as it blew up on social media and had over 3.6 million viewers. If you’re keeping score at home or care (and you probably don’t but…) the movie was Lifetime’s biggest hit in over a year!   I’m sure you can find the movie On Demand, replaying on Lifetime or Netflix – it’s essentially about Toni’s good and bad, from being at the top of the charts to her illness, to money issues, a Read More …

Happy New Year!

We here at Round Trip just wanted to wish you continued “Happy Holidays” to go along with a “Happy New Year!” 2016 is our fourth full year of playing you nothin’ but 90’s hits and catching up with your favorite 90’s stars, and we hope it’ll be a big one in your life. One thing is for certain, we’re thankful for your local radio station which brings Round Trip to you each weekend, and we appreciate you taking the time to listen as much as you can. Thank you from all of us at Round Trip – and best wishes for 2016! Oh, and… until Read More …

RIP Scott Weiland

I just wanted to wish a quick RIP to Scott Weiland, former lead singer of Stone Temple Pilots, who passed away on December 3rd.   Scott was only 48 years old and had been performing with “Scott Weiland & The Wildabouts” when he reportedly died in his sleep from a POSSIBLE drug overdose.   The addiction disease is an awful one and it’s so sad to see it take away another man so talented at what he does.   Scott leaves behind family, friends and lots of music that will always be better for knowing him.   RIP Scott.
