Hard to believe we’re already into the thick of winter and before we know it, it’ll be Valentine’s Day again!
And leave it to none other than Mariah Carey to make February 14th the best Valentine’s Day in the history for one lucky couple.
To be exact, Mariah recently announced that she will fly one lucky couple to HER HOUSE… from ANYWHERE in the world… and she’ll play a private romantic concert for them. Think of it – all her great 90’s songs, for just you and yours – songs like “Hero,” “Dreamlover,” “Fantasy,” “Butterfly,” “Honey,” “Make It Happen” and “Anytime You Need A Friend!”
So how do you become the lucky couple, you may ask?
Well, that’s where this story gets even cooler – ‘cuz Mariah is raising cash for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital through a website called Prizeo.com (not to be confused with Daveo). For just a small donation (since every bit helps), you can enter you and yours for the chance of a lifetime. I love this idea and hope many other artists will also follow suit in giving fans an unforgettable experience while giving back to worthwhile causes.
Also in awesome 90’s news this week is this… Suzanne Vega (who had the hit “Tom’s Diner” that was re-released in the early 90’s) is sampling……………….. 50 Cent!!! And his song “Candy Shop!” Yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That’s right, she’s actually taking from HIM and sampling one of HIS SONGS, which I think is hilarious after you consider the fact that “Tom’s Diner” has been sampled 37 other times by artists such as Snoop Dogg, Black Eyed Peas and Tupac! Apparently 50 Cent is quite the Vega fan and gave her the “go ahead” on the project. Her single will be called “Don’t Uncork What You Can’t Contain” and will be on her forthcoming album at some point this spring.
What a cool way to start 2014 – here’s to a great year for you and yours, as well as all of our favorite stars from the 90’s!
