Vanilla Ice, J-Lo & More

I’ve been hearing the hype for a few months now, but have finally seen it for myself – “Vanilla Ice Goes Amish!”

No, it’s not a Weird Al song and no, it’s not a children’s book (thank God)!

It’s a legitimate TV show on the DIY Network, and features Vanilla Ice spending two months living in a rural Amish community in Ohio.

Who would have ever thunk it, Vanilla Ice doing a reality show in 2013? What’s more, who would have thought it would actually be highly entertaining? Definitely recommend you check it out – ‘Ice seems like a really cool dude. He’s still fairly young (only 45) and nowadays, is a father of two. This show is almost as good as my all-time favorite “reality show” involving a musician – “Tommy Lee Goes To College,” which featured the Motley Crue drummer going to the University of Nebraska for a semester back in 2005. I would say this show is right up there with that. I would also say it’s about time we talk with ‘Ice on a future episode of Round Trip!

Next, a bit of “news” on a lady that I find truly inspirational – one Jennifer Lopez.

In an upcoming issue of Cosmo For Latinas’, J-Lo opened up about her body, which is commonly adored by men and women around the world (duh)! However, as it turns out, that wasn’t always the way it was viewed.

Check out this disturbing quote from J-Lo:

“Early on, my family really made me love who I was and what I looked like. My body was nothing out of the ordinary in my neighborhood. When I first started in television some people, and even my manager at the time, would tell me I had to make all of these changes. But you have to stand up and say, ‘There’s nothing wrong with me or the shape I am – you’re the one with the problem!”

Amen Jennifer, Amen. And may girls everywhere around the world learn this same thing – I can’t imagine how difficult it is to be a woman and trying to grow up in 2013. People can be so cruel.

Last, I got a tweet from “Spike” in State College, PA., who wants to know “can you get Montell Jordan on a future episode of Round Trip? He’s a minister now.”

Spike, this is true – Montell IS a minister. In fact, he’s the “worship leader” just outside of Atlanta in Norcross, Georgia, at a church called “Victory World Church.”

As far as whether or not I can get him on the show, that’s a great question. He is one whom I’ve never attempted to get, but now that you put in that request, I will see what I can do.

That’s it for now – but as always, you can get in touch with us on Twitter (@roundtrip90s) by e-mail (daveo@roundtripwithdaveo.com) or by phone (855-895-TRIP). Would love to hear from you and hear any requests, ideas or feedback.

Until next time, take care, and keep livin’ the 90’s dream!!!
