A very good question begins this week’s “Back In The Day Buzz.”
It comes to us from Shane in Flagstaff, Arizona, who found us on Twitter (@roundtrip90s) and asked the following:
“What happened to Shaggy? He was on fire & then disappeared! Thanks, luv ur show.”
First of all, thank you for the kind words Shane and second, here’s the latest on Shaggy.
He’s actually working on a collaboration album with Sly & Robbie that is “due out this spring.” I would guess that is supposed to mean in the month of May, but from my contact at a record label (not his), it sounds as if it may be pushed back to the summer. But who knows.
Also, Shaggy has a new music video out of his song “Love Mi Jamaica” that he collaborated on with Red Fox and GC! Good to see him still kickin’ in the music industry, though his biggest days have obviously (unfortunately) passed.
Speaking of “still kickin’ in the music industry,” perhaps her biggest days HAVE NOT passed, as Sheryl Crow is now doin’ the country thing!
As a matter of fact, I had a chance to have a nice conversation with Sheryl earlier this week when she was in Kansas City on a country radio promo tour. She declined an on air interview (for now) as she focuses 100% on the country format, but did say she’d be happy to do one in the future.
For now, get your Sheryl Crow fix by checking out her new single “Easy” on I Tunes. She is having the time of her life doing country music and livin’ the Nashville lifestyle, and we wish her luck. I told her that I think she’s one of the best “singer/song writers” of our time and she would have none of it. But seriously, I think she is. Especially if you go back and listen to the songs you know well and focus ENTIRELY on the lyrics. They’re strong, unique and paint amazing pictures. I’ll always wonder why it took me so long to appreciate Sheryl’s knack for writing, but better late than never, I suppose.
That’s it for this week – until next time, take care, and keep livin’ the 90’s dream!
