Matchbox 20, Melissa Etheridge & More

How is it already October?!?!? It seems like just yesterday it was winter! And before we know it, it’ll be winter again! And we’ll all be a year older. Yikes… I better stop there before we have a collective meltdown, right?!?

Let’s go to a happier place and begin with news on Matchbox 20.

We previously reported a few months back that the new Matchbox 20 album would be out late this fall or early winter. That now appears to be a little wishful thinking, as the album itself isn’t even done yet! Plus, once its done, you have to think it’ll be a couple more months until it’s out.

Paul Doucette of Matchbox 20 recently spoke of when he thought the album would be done, saying, “We don’t know – the beginning of next year, we hope. It’s a real important record for us. We haven’t done anything in a longtime. The older we get, the more we realize and appreciate the good fortune we have to do what we do at this level. Realistically, how many more times do we get? So we’re going to really make this record the one we want it to be.”

Canadian rock band Crash Test Dummies, meanwhile, have had two new albums in the last year, including a limited edition record called “Demo-litions” that is available on their website – www.crashtestdummies.com. That record is especially cool because its “cast off recordings from 1996-1997.” Lead singer Brad Roberts has agreed to do an interview with us and we look forward to speaking with him in the next several weeks both about the new sound of Crash Test Dummies and the old school days of “God Shuffled His Feet” and the like.

Finally, congratulations to Melissa Etheridge (one of our colleagues) for having her own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame! She got that this past week and like Crash Test Dummies, we look forward to speaking with her soon. She is a fellow member of the Benztown Radio Networks, where she does her own radio show!
